The Fight Of My Life Inspired by Pamela Karanova

Posted by Adoptee Merch. on

THE FIGHT OF MY LIFE  by Pamela Karanova August 13, 1974 the fight began, the minute I was born my birth-mother ran. Conceived out of a drunken one-night stand with a married man, did my tiny body ever feel her warm soft hands? A sacred bond would be broken too soon, I can imagine the sorrow in the delivery room. I spent the next 4 days in the nursery all alone, but I’ve always wanted to know…   Did she name me? Did she hold me? Did she love me? Did she think about me? Who was she?  Just like that, at the...

Finding My Truth Has Made Me Whole by Mary N.

Finding my truth has made me whole. By Mary N.  To read the beginnings of my story featured on Adoptee Merch click here.  I am fascinated with the DNA part of it, the genealogy. The truth is, the results of the end of a very long search for my living family was unbelievably painful and disappointing. I'm Adopted - Ask Me How It Feels

Posted by Adoptee Merch. on

This graphic design was inspired from a vision to promote Adoptees to turn the tides on non-adoptees speaking for us. It’s a way to spark an open dialog with those OFFLINE in our real lives and communities to share how it feels to be adopted. It’s another way to speak up and share our stories because we matter and our stories matter. It’s a way to share our truth as we see it by sparking conversations with others. This gives us a gateway to share our truth but also opens a window of a possible teaching opportunity for anyone who’s not adopted who might have the willingness to learn from our very valuable lived experiences.

One year ago this month I received the results from my Ancestry DNA test. Within 24 hours I had found my birth mother. I'm not going to lie, I was in shock. I was part of a closed adoption through Catholic Charities. I was adopted in a state, Minnesota, which does not have open records. I had attempted to get access to my OBC but my birth mother would have had to filed paperwork to allow me to see it. I tried to go through Catholic Charities but all I could afford at the time was to pay them...

I Survived Adoption, I Can Survive Anything Inspired By Pamela Karanova

Posted by Adoptee Merch. on

The reason this graphic design was so important to me is because we live in a world that glorifies the very same thing that causes adoptees trauma: ADOPTION.  I don’t think non-adoptees have ever had a reason to TRY to understand what it’s like to have your trauma celebrated by the world. I mean why would they? There is no other trauma but adoption that is glorified, celebrated and put on a pedestal like adoption is.
